The new structure will have two main summer tournaments: the CONCACAF W Championship in 2022 and then the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2024.
The first chapter of this changed format begins with 30 CONCACAF nations competing in the CONCACAF qualifiers in hopes of securing a place in the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship.

A total of eight nations will compete in the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship. The tournament will pass through the group stage after which it will be the two main finalists of each group advancing to the semifinals and guaranteeing a place in the FIFA Women's World Cup and the World Cups of Australia and New Zealand 2023.
The third-place group of finalists will advance to the sexual intercourse playoffs for the FIFA World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023.

In general, Canada has participated in seven consecutive editions of the FIFA Women's World Cup™ (1995 to 2019) and four consecutive editions of the Women's Olympic Football Tournament (2008 to 2021).
